Penn Relays

Founded in 1895 and held every spring at Franklin Field on the University of Pennsylvania campus, the Penn Relays—often called the world’s first and largest relay competition—draws more than 17,000 athletes and 100,000 spectators from around the globe. Our exhibit, curated by Penn Athletics, celebrates this time-honored tradition with memorabilia from past athletes, including trophies, batons, and race bibs, offering guests a glimpse into the history and spirit of one of track and field’s most iconic events.
